What is the TransCAER Safety Training Tank Car?

The Safety Training Tank Car is a general purpose railroad tank car converted into a classroom on wheels. Developed in 1990, in partnership with rail car manufacturers and railway industries, the car is used to support industry training, educate first responders, inform the public and raise awareness of CCPA, its members and their commitment to Responsible Care®

What is “Responsible Care®”?

Many companies that ship dangerous goods are committed to the Guiding Principles of Responsible Care®. The railway industry is committed to promoting these principles, which are imbedded in the Codes of Practice. One of the major components of the Responsible Care initiative is the Transportation Code of Practice named « TransCAER ».

What is TransCAER?

“TransCAER” stands for: Transportation, Community Awareness and Emergency Response.

The Railway Association of Canada has a team of Transportation of Dangerous Goods Specialists who utilize the Safety Training tank car to assist Canadian railways in promoting the safe transportation of dangerous goods in communities. The Team will be on hand to demonstrate the safety training tank car.
