ChemE Car Competition
The 8th World Congress of Chemical Engineering continues the tradition started in Glasglow by offering the second international ChemE Car competition. This competition highlights creative problem solving and displays the diverse areas that are encompassed by chemical engineering.
Description
Team members design and construct a chemically powered vehicle within certain size constraints. This vehicle must be designed to also carry a specified cargo. The teams will be told at the time of the competition the distance that the car must travel and the specified cargo that the vehicle will carry. Designs will be presented at a poster session preceding the competition. Entries deemed unsafe by the judges will be disqualified. The winner will be determined by a combined score, for the poster presentation, for traveling the correct distance, and for creativity.
Eligibility
For countries holding national ChemE Car competitions, the top three teams are invited to compete in the international competition. Please advise organizers of your intent to attend. For all other countries, please submit a letter of interest along with a 100-200 word abstract describing the Car. Letters of interest should be received by February 1, 2009.
